This blog is part of the AP Comparative Government program at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. The Advanced Placement course in Comparative Government and Politics introduces students to facets of political science such as governmental system alternatives, policy analysis and implications of culture. Arend Lijphart says of comparative politics that it focuses on "the how but does not specify the what of the analysis." The curriculam revolves around six core countries (China, Great Britain, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, and Russia) and emphasises on themes like democratization and citizen-state relations. 


This blog covers current events relating to the People's Republic of China in the Spring Semester of the 2009-2010 academic year. Some of the main sources are The Economist and the New York Times.
